As experienced birth practitioners who have left the system, they have a vision for the future of maternity care. A vision that gives the mother full control, responsibility, informed decisions and empowerment over her birth.
This one-year course will provide you with all the skills and knowledge to be able to facilitate and support a normal physiological birth during modern times.
Artemis Birth Attendant Academy
One year (52 modules). 2 in person workshops per year.
The course will train you to become a birth attendant, enabling you to support natural birth. The training is a one-year online programme with live seminars and in-person skills workshops.
Mainstream maternity services are currently very overstretched and many people are not receiving good quality care and are often left with ongoing trauma. Artemis Birth Academy aim to fill the gaps in care not provided in the mainstream.
As experienced birth practitioners, the course leaders have a great understanding of how a poor birth experience can have negative outcomes for the whole family. Suicide in the postnatal period remains the leading cause of maternal death. They aim to reduce this. Studies have shown continuity of care greatly reduces the need for medical intervention and improves outcomes for mothers and babies. Most care models are not in a position to implement a continuity model.
Artemis Birth Attendant Academy will train people to be able to offer support so women and families can make truly informed choices about their care and feel understood and listened to. You will be able to provide support alongside what the mainstream can offer outside of this system.
Birth is a natural process that occasionally requires medical intervention, not a medical process that occasionally happens naturally.
The Artemis course is centred around self/spiritual development. They teach the ‘Money Is Love’
model to maintain a healthy relationship with money, therefore providing students with a crucial
tool to keep business flowing.
Prerequisites: No experience necessary, but an understanding of biology would be useful.
